Benefits of the Hadith: (… Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray a long night prayer …) and all its narrations.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It appears from this context and the one before it that by "long" she means "much," contrary to my initial understanding that the intended meaning was the length of the night, i.e., the length of its duration. "A long night" means "a lot," so she used "long" to mean what? To mean "much." This means that in the Arabic language, a word is sometimes used in place of another, as Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The moon was split during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) انشق القمر على عهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلّم مرتين
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3289Sahih (Darussalam)
What does a person understand from this expression?
The student: … twice.

The Shaykh : That "twice" means on two nights, but that is not the case. Rather, the meaning of "twice" is "two parts," as explained by the other narration. Here, it is known that "long" refers to extension; that length is extension, and that the intended meaning of "the long night" is the night of winter, as we established initially. However, it became clear to me from the context of the hadith that the intended meaning of her saying
A long night. ليلا طويلا
is "a lot of nights," meaning that he often prayed while sitting and often prayed while sitting. It is well known that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray while sitting except when he became heavy and gained weight. But when he was energetic and before he gained much weight, he used to pray standing. Yes.
