The Shaykh : These hadiths provide evidence that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray in congregation with his family; rather, he used to pray alone. When the dawn approached and only the witr remained, he would wake Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) so she could pray the witr. He did not say he prayed the witr with her. Based on this, if someone asked whether it is better to pray the night prayer in congregation with one’s family or for each person to pray alone, we would say the latter: each person should pray alone. However, there is no harm in a person praying the night prayer in congregation occasionally, as we have passed through in the story of Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, and others. Yes.
