Explanation of the Book of Hajj-04b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Malik narrated to me. And 'Abd Allah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, saying: Malik informed us from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar from Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that she said:
O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! Why have the people finished their Ihram after performing `Umra but you have not finished your Ihram after performing `Umra?" He replied, "I have matted my hair and garlanded my Hadi. So I will not finish my Ihram till I have slaughtered (my Hadi). يا رسول الله ما شأن الناس حلوا بعمرة ولم تحلل أنت من عمرتك قال إني لبدت رأسي وقلدت هديي فلا أحل حتى أنحر
Sahih al-Bukhari 1566

The Shaykh : And so, one who brings the sacrificial animal cannot make it an 'Umrah; he must remain in his state of ihram until the Day of Sacrifice. And his saying:
I have matted my hair. لبدت رأسي
He matted his hair only because of the length of the period, for he would not shorten it or shave it except on the Day of Sacrifice. He arrived on the fourth day; how much time remained until the festival? Six days. And he had set out in the last part of Dhul-Qa'dah, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) matted his hair so that he would not need to shave or shorten it.
