Continuation of the explanation of the hadith of Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her): Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered his wives to break their state of ihram during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. Hafsa said, “I said, ‘What prevents you from breaking your state of ihram?’”

The Shaykh : We said: If that were said, it would have a valid aspect. However, this can be refuted by saying: There is a difference between the one who brought the sacrificial animal and the one who did not. The one who brought the sacrificial animal does not break his state of ihram until he slaughters it. As for the one who did not bring it, he breaks his state of ihram when he stons the pillars and shaves his head. This is the practice and the ruling upon which scholars act, that a person breaks his state of ihram when he stons the pillars and shaves his head, even if he has not slaughtered his sacrificial animal.
