Explanation of the Book of Hajj-07a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Mas'ud narrated to us, Yahya narrated to me from 'Ubayd Allah from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
I have never missed the touching of these two stones of Ka`ba (the Black Stone and the Yemenite Corner) both in the presence and the absence of crowds, since I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) touching them. ما تركت استلام هذين الركنين في شدة ولا رخاء منذ رأيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يستلمهما
Sahih al-Bukhari 1606
, I asked Nafi', "Did Ibn 'Umar walk between the two corners?" He said, "He only walked so that it would be easier for him to touch them."

The Shaykh : Because there is a crowd, and he is determined to touch it, he cannot perform the ramal (brisk walking). The action of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is anomalous in this regard. Otherwise, the correct view is to follow the Sunnah in this matter, which is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to touch it with a staff and kiss the staff if he could not touch it easily. If that was not possible, he would point to it. The correct view is contrary to the opinion of Ibn 'Umar in this issue, which is the crowding to touch the Stone.
