How did you act on this day with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And if he prays, his prayer is invalid, and he must repeat it as the Zuhr prayer. This is indicated by the fact that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) did not pray Jumu'ah; rather, he delivered the sermon to the people after he had prayed Zuhr and 'Asr, and the Jumu'ah sermon is delivered before the prayer. This is also indicated by the fact that 'Asr is not combined with Jumu'ah, so it is established that the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) at 'Arafah was the Zuhr prayer. He said:
Ibn 'Umar used to combine the two prayers if he missed the prayer. كان ابن عمر إذا فاتته الصلاة جمع بينهما
It appears that Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) held that combining the prayers is a recommended practice in all cases at 'Arafah, so that if he missed it with the imam and prayed in his tent, he would combine them. And this is the closest view: that a person combines the prayers at 'Arafah, whether he prays with the imam in the mosque of 'Arafah or prays in his tent.
