The reciter: Ali ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, saying: Sufyan informed us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Kathir informed me that he heard Wahb ibn Kaysan say that he heard 'Umar ibn Abi al-Salamah say:
I was a boy in the care of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and my hands would dart about in the dish. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O boy, mention the name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is near you." That remained my way of eating thereafter. كنت غلامًا في حجر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وكانت يدي تطيش في الصحفة فقال لي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : يا غلام سم الله وكل بيمينك وكل مما يليك فما زالت تلك طعمتي بعد
