The questioner : What is the ruling on worshippers hastening to leave the mosque after the prayer and passing through the middle of the worshippers in the rear rows?
The Shaykh : Once the prayer is finished, no one has a right to remain. Whoever wishes may stand up and remember Allah the Exalted while walking, and there is no blame on him, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:103] meaning, in whatever state you were.
Those who stand up to leave are the quick ones among the people. This existed in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah regarding the incident of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) forgetfulness when he concluded the prayer after two rak'ahs. It states: "And the quick ones among the people left the mosque". There is nothing wrong with this, and the harm caused by stepping over people’s shoulders is not intended. Those in the rear rows have an alternative, which is to stand up. However, there is no doubt that it is a mark of good manners and good character that if you stand up early while the people are in their rows glorifying Allah, you do not harm them. Rather, your passing should be with calmness and asking permission.
It is better to remain in your place and continue glorifying Allah, unless there is a need, such as a strong urge to urinate or something else, in which case you are excused.
The questioner : May Allah bless you.

And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides
