The questioner : Noble Shaykh, how do you reconcile the two hadiths:
Do not verbally abuse the dead, for they have reached the consequences of what they did. لا تسبّوا الأموات فإنّهم قد أفضوا إلى ما قدّموا

and the hadith:
A funeral procession passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they spoke ill of it, so he said: It is decreed. أنّ جنازة مرّت على النبي صلّى الله عليه وسلّم فأثنوا عليها شرّا فقال: وجبت
How do you reconcile the two hadiths?

The Shaykh : The reconciliation between them is that if it is while the funeral procession is passing by, there is nothing wrong with it, but if it is after that, there is no need for it and no benefit in it, yes.
