Explanation of the Book of Foods-09a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abdullah ibn Muslimah narrated to us from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Umaymah ibn Sahal, from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from Khalid ibn al-Walid:
That he entered the house of Maymunah with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). A cooked lizard was brought to them, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached for it with his hand. Some of the women said, "Inform the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) of what he intends to eat." They said, "It is a lizard, O Messenger of Allah." So he withdrew his hand. I said, "Is it forbidden, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "No, but it was not in the land of my people, so I find it repulsive." Khalid said, "So I pulled it toward me and ate it, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was looking at me."
