The Shaykh : Yes, and this applies to men without doubt. It is not permissible for men to sit on silk, because if wearing it is forbidden, then sitting on it is forbidden. The term "wearing" is used broadly to include any use, even sitting, as in the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "I stood up to a mat of ours that had turned black from long use". The "wearing" of any item is according to its nature.
I mentioned to you previously that scholars differed on the permissibility of women spreading silk. Some said it is permissible due to the generality of the evidence, while others said it is prohibited. I told you that this is the more cautious position, and that it is better for women to avoid this. Yes.

The questioner : … There is silk, O Shaykh, that is half-natural and is called silk.

The Shaykh : There is no harm in it. There is no harm in wearing it, but I mentioned to you yesterday or the day before yesterday that a man should not wear it because of its softness and smoothness, especially if he is young and handsome, as it would cause great temptation.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : It does no harm. Yes.
