The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. The long hadith of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the author mentioned in the chapter on what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was lenient about regarding clothing and bedding.
"Yatajawazu" means he considers it permissible and broad, so he takes what is easy and leaves what is difficult. This is part of the etiquette derived from the saying of the Exalted:[Al-A'raf 7:199] "Al-'afw" means what is forgiven, easy, and facilitated in all matters. Because if a person insists on strictness and rigor, as the common people say, if you tighten the rope too much, what happens? It breaks. So the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would take what was easy, not strain for what was absent, and not reject what was present. And just as this is the Shari'ah, it is also comfort, comfort for the soul and relaxation. And when a person attains something, if he looks at what is above it, he tires, because there is nothing but something above it. So if he takes what is easy from the character of people and from the matters that Allah grants him in food, clothing, and marriage, he finds rest and sees that he is in tranquility.
The hadith mentioned by the author contains what points to that. And al-Hafiz mentioned in his explanation of this hadith very important benefits, among which are two.
