Explanation of the Book of the Hearts-03b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn 'Urayrah narrated to me, Shu'bah narrated to us from Sa'd ibn Ibrahim from Abu Salama from 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, "Which deeds are most beloved to Allah?" He said:
The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few." He added, 'Don't take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability. أدومها وإن قل وقال : اكلفوا من الأعمال ما تطيقون
Sahih al-Bukhari 6465
.

The Shaykh : The meaning of
Take on إكلفوا
is: take on from the deeds what you are able to do, and do not exhaust yourselves.

The questioner : The questioner asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about which deeds, so what did he answer regarding this deed? I mean, what did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) answer to his question?

The Shaykh : Why? He was asked, "Which deed is most beloved to Allah?" He said, "The most consistent one," meaning that you persist in the thing.

The questioner : That you persist, whether it is good or not good?

The Shaykh : No, no. What is known to be good; what is not good, Allah does not love.

The questioner : What does this mean?

The Shaykh : It is known, because when we say "most beloved to Allah," it means we are asking about a good deed. I mean, he was not asked about the type of deed. Therefore, when the questioner wanted to know the type of deed, he answered with the type. He said to Ibn Mas'ud, and he had asked him, "Which deed is most beloved to Allah?" He said:
Prayer at its prescribed time الصلاة على وقتها
I said, "Then what?" He said, "Dutifulness to parents." I said, "What?" He said:
striving in the path of Allah الجهاد في سبيل الله
Sunan Abi Dawud 2486Hasan (Al-Albani)
Here he is not asking about the type of deed, he is asking about the deed itself. What deed is most beloved to Allah from the deed itself? For example, what prayer is most beloved to Allah? Other than the obligatory ones, the obligatory ones are known. He said, "The most consistent one." He said, "What charity is most beloved?" "The most consistent one," and so on.
