If the trust is hidden now and the hour has not yet come, how do we ward it off?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, if the trust is lost now and the hour is likely to bring destruction, how do we ward it off? And with what?

The Shaykh : By righteousness. Everything has a cause, and it is averted by removing its cause. For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) pointed to this in His saying:
And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] ولقد أخذناهم بالعذاب فما استكانوا لربهم ، وما يتضرعون
[Al-Mu'minun 23:76]
The verse indicates that if they had been submissive to their Lord and humbled themselves, it would have been lifted from them. But He said:
but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] (77) Until when We have opened before them a door of severe punishmentفما استكانوا لربهم وما يتضرعون حتى إذا فتحنا عليهم باب ذا عذاب شديد
[Al-Mu'minun 23:76-77]
more severe than the first
immediately they will be therein in despair.إذا هم فيه مبلسون
[Al-Mu'minun 23:77]
, despairing from every direction. We ask Allah for safety.
