The Reciter: Chapter: The Abandonment of Trust. Muhammad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Faliha ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Hilal ibn Ali narrated to us from Ata ibn Yasar from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When honesty is lost, then wait for the Hour (Doomsday). إذا ضيعت الأمانة فانتظر الساعة
Sahih al-Bukhari 59
He said: "How will it be abandoned, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
When authority is given to those who do not deserve it, then wait for the Hour. إذا أسند الأمر إلى غير أهله فانتظر الساعة
Sahih al-Bukhari 6496

The Shaykh : The "Hour" mentioned here could refer to the Hour of the Day of Resurrection, or it could refer to the Hour of destruction, meaning the Hour of destruction, i.e., that the community will be destroyed when the trust is abandoned. Even if the Hour has not yet come, both possibilities are valid. The important point is that the hadith provides evidence that the community in the end times will be corrupted by the abandonment of trust, which occurs when authority is entrusted to one who is not qualified for it, whether in general or specific leadership. If it is entrusted to one who is not qualified, await the Hour. For example, if command is entrusted to a person who is far from religion, who does not enforce the hudud (fixed punishments), who favors relatives, favors the rich, and oppresses the weak, and the like, this person is not qualified for command. This person is not qualified for command. If it is entrusted to him, we await the Hour. A minister who leads the community to evil, moral corruption, and the dissolution of the community is not qualified. If authority is entrusted to him, await the Hour. A leader who does not judge by the Book of Allah or the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), yet is entrusted with the affairs of the Muslims, is also not qualified. If authority is entrusted to him, await the Hour. A manager, for example, is entrusted with authority, but he is not skilled in administration, neither technically nor educationally, but he is a relative of the minister or an acquaintance of the minister, or the like, so administration is entrusted to him. We say this is also an abandonment of trust. Indeed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that if a man appoints someone over a group when there are among them those better than him for that appointment, he has betrayed Allah, His Messenger, and the believers. If you appoint someone over a group when there are among them those better than him for that authority, this is a betrayal of Allah, His Messenger, and the believers. If you apply this matter to our reality today, you will find that the trust has been completely abandoned, unless Allah wills, and that authority is entrusted to one who is not qualified, or is entrusted to one who is not qualified, who favors relatives, favors friends, favors the influential, and this is a problem. Therefore, we say: Now we are awaiting the Hour, either the Hour of destruction, or the Hour of the Resurrection that will occur, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) stated a condition and a consequence. The condition is the abandonment of the trust, and the consequence is the Hour, and the consequence is the Hour.
