Explanation of the Book of the Hearts-09b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Al-Salt ibn Muhammad narrated to us, and Yazid ibn Zura' narrated to us
And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment
[Al-A'raf 7:43]
He said: Sa'id narrated to us from Qatadah from Abu al-Mutawakkil al-Naji that Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The believers, after being saved from the (Hell) Fire, will be stopped at a bridge between Paradise and Hell and mutual retaliation will be established among them regarding wrongs they have committed
Sahih al-Bukhari 6535

The Shaykh : Retribution is taken.
The reader:
they have committed in the world against one another. After they are cleansed and purified
Sahih al-Bukhari 6535

The Shaykh : Cleansed.
The reader:
and purified (through the retaliation), they will be admitted into Paradise; and by Him in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, everyone of them will know his dwelling in Paradise better than he knew his dwelling in this world.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6535

The Shaykh : Allahu Akbar. This is retribution, but this retribution presents a difficulty: there is a prior retribution, a prior retribution before crossing the Sirat. This is because the believers are saved from the Fire by crossing the Sirat and escaping from it, and then they are stopped on a bridge, as he said, between Paradise and the Fire. The bridge is the crossing point, and on this bridge, retribution is taken from some of them by others. Is this retribution a repetition of the first, or is it said that the retribution intended here is the purification of their hearts from resentment so that they enter Paradise without any resentment in their hearts toward one another? This is because even if retribution is completed, something will remain in the heart regarding the first offense; that is, the victim, even if retribution is taken for him, will still have something in his heart toward the perpetrator. So this retribution, which occurs after crossing the Sirat, is intended for purification so that they enter Paradise in the most complete manner, as in His saying:
And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment
[Al-A'raf 7:43]
As for the rest of the hadith, that one of them will be more guided to his dwelling in Paradise than he was to his dwelling in this world, this is among the signs of Allah and is not strange. This child is born and is guided to the breast without anyone guiding him to it. Likewise, the person in Paradise, when he enters Paradise—may Allah make us and you among them—will be guided to his dwelling without guidance. And Allah knows best.
