The reciter: In the name of Allah, al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, who heard Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) say:
I became sick so Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and Abu Bakr came on foot to pay me a visit. When they came, I was unconscious. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) performed ablution and he poured over me the water (of his ablution) and I came to my senses and said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What shall I do regarding my property? How shall I distribute it?" The Prophet (ﷺ) did not reply till the Divine Verses of inheritance were revealed .
Sahih al-Bukhari 6723
.

The Shaykh : This hadith indicates the prescription of visiting the sick. Is there evidence in it that it is prescribed to visit the sick while walking? It is possible that either is the case, but there is no doubt that the one who visits the sick while walking is more likely to be rewarded, as it appears from the practice, than the one who visits the sick while riding.
And in it is evidence of the blessing in the traces of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution and poured his ablution water over him, he regained consciousness.
But does that extend to others?
Answer: No, seeking blessing from traces such as sweat, clothing, or leftover ablution water and the like is specific to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and no one shares in this with him.
And the evidence for this is that the Companions did not practice it with one another, meaning the Companions did not use this among themselves; they did not seek blessing from the traces of Abu Bakr, nor 'Umar, nor 'Uthman, nor 'Ali. And when they did not seek blessing while the cause was present, it is known that it is not prescribed.
And in the hadith is evidence that some verses of the Noble Book have a cause, and some do not have a cause. And every verse that begins with "They ask you" has a cause, because its cause is the question itself.
