Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Taking what their Lord has given them; indeed, they were doers of good before that)]

Allah the Exalted said:
Taking what their Lord has given themآخِذِينَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ
[Surat al-Dhariyat: 16] His saying: "Taking": this is a state of the hidden pronoun in the predicate,Meaning: the state of them being those who take what their Lord has given them,Meaning: what He gave them of blessings,And this verse is like the verse in Surat al-Tur:
Delighting in what their Lord has given themفَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ
[Surat al-Tur: 18] meaning: what Allah gave them of blessings in these gardens,Then He explained the reason by which they reached this, saying:
Indeed, they were before that doers of good.إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ
[Surat al-Dhariyat: 16] .
They were before thatكَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ
: that is, in this world
Doers of goodمُحْسِنِينَ
that is, those who fulfill the obedience of Allah in the manner that Allah Mighty and Majestic is pleased with—and this has been mentioned previously— rather, it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: (Ihsan is that you worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, He sees you) This is ihsan in worship, as for ihsan in his dealings with creation, the most comprehensive statement regarding it is,What the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: (Whoever loves to be kept away from the Fire and entered into Paradise, let his death come to him while he believes in Allah and the Last Day, and let him deal with people as he would like them to deal with him) ,This is ihsan to people: that you deal with people as you would like them to deal with you, with good character, a pleasant face, refraining from harm, and generosity, among other things that are known. These are the doers of good in the worship of Allah, and doers of good to the servants of Allah. They were, before that,Meaning: before they took what Allah gave them of blessings, doers of good.
