What is the criterion for justice among children in gifts, especially if one of them works with his father in a commercial shop or the like?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Did he give the adhan or not?

The questioner : We are coming from Riyadh, and we would like to ask.

The Shaykh : Do you receive this question?

The questioner : Yes, indeed.

The Shaykh : Fine, good.

The questioner : Regarding justice in gifts between males and females, and also the male son who works with his father in the shop or store, how should he be treated?

The Shaykh : Justice, may Allah bless you, between males and females is by what Allah the Exalted has made just:
Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females يُوصِيكُمُ اللَّهُ فِي أَوْلادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنْثَيَيْنِ
[An-Nisa 4:11]
. So if you give the male two riyals, give the female one riyal. But in maintenance, justice is to give each one what he needs. The female may need earrings in her ears worth, for example, 200 riyals, and the male may need a cap worth, for example, 10 riyals, yes, if it is one of the good caps, otherwise it is, in my opinion, two riyals. In any case, give this one what he needs and that one what she needs. Also, if one of them needs to get married, marry him, and do not give the others like him, except for one who has reached the age of marriage, then marry him. This is the matter of maintenance; justice in maintenance is to give each one what he needs. Pure donation is to give the male twice what you give the female. As for the one who works with his father in his trade or agriculture, if he donates that and wants his reward from Allah, then the reward of the Hereafter is better. But if he says, "I want from this world what I want," just as his brothers each work for themselves and are independent with their money, then his father makes it for him either a monthly wage or a percentage of the profits, but he counts him as if he were a stranger, not as if he were his son, but as if he were a stranger he hired. For example, if someone like him is given a salary of 2000 riyals, let him be given 2000 riyals a month, or if he is, for example, with him in his agriculture, let him say to him, for example: "You have half of the yield of the produce, or the like of that, or a quarter of it," according to what they agree upon, on the condition that he does not favor him. Is that clear?

The questioner : Clear.

The Shaykh : Very well.
