Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to me, saying: Mu'adh ibn Hisham narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, saying: Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us that Abu Hurayrah narrated to them that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone fasts during Ramadan because of faith and in order to seek his reward from Allah, his previous sins will be forgiven to him. If anyone prays in the night of the power (lailat al-qadr) because of faith and in order to seek his reward from Allah his previous sins will be forgiven for him. من صام رمضان إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدّم من ذنبه ومن قام ليلة القدر إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدّم من ذنبه
Sunan Abi Dawud 1372Sahih (Al-Albani)
.

The Shaykh : This differs from what came before in that it conditions the forgiveness of previous sins upon fasting and upon standing in prayer on the Night of Decree. Accordingly, standing in prayer is specific to the last ten nights, because the Night of Decree is in the last ten nights, as established by the Sunnah. It is most likely to be in the last seven nights, but it is in all ten nights, and it is most likely to be the twenty-seventh night. As for fasting Ramadan, it encompasses the entire month of Ramadan, and it is well known that it is obligatory and that it is one of the pillars of Islam. Yes.
The reciter: Narrated to me.

The Shaykh : Zaki.
