Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: If I board an airplane and travel to one of the distant countries, and the time for one of the prayers comes, and I do not have water on the plane, what is the method for performing the prayer and the ablution? May you remain in good health?

The Shaykh : If you know that the plane will reach the airport and land on the ground before the time for the prayer ends, wait until it lands and perform the prayer with ablution, facing the qiblah, standing, bowing, prostrating, and with tranquility. If you know that it will not reach the airport until after the time has ended, pray according to your condition.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Pray with ablution if possible, and with tayammum if possible. If neither is possible, pray without ablution or tayammum. Face the qiblah, and stand, bow, and prostrate if that is possible. If it is not possible, Allah the Exalted said:
So fear Allah as much as you are able فاتقوا الله ما استطعتم
[At-Taghabun 64:16]
and He said:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity لا يكلف الله نفساً إلا وسعها
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
and He the Exalted said:
(61) It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. (62) And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity أولئك يسارعون في الخيرات وهم لها سابقون ولا نكلف نفساً إلا وسعها
[Al-Mu'minun 23:61-62]
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : You have done well; may Allah reward you.
