Benefits of the Hadith: (… Read the Two Radiant Ones …) and all its narrations.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) specified and said:
Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Surah Al 'Imran, for
Sahih Muslim 804a
to the end of it. "Al-Zahrawayn" is the dual of "Zahra," which means the bright white one. From this comes "al-Zahrah," which is the white, bright flower that appears on a tree. They were called this among the rest of the Qur'an because of the great rulings and beneficial admonitions they contain. As for his saying:
for on the Day of Resurrection they will come
Sahih Muslim 804a
Yes, his saying:
al-Baqara and Surah Al 'Imran
Sahih Muslim 804a
"And omitting what is known is permissible, just as you say, 'Zayd, after [he came] from your side'". He says: They come on the Day of Resurrection. If someone asks why they are called by these names, we say: because of the mention of the cow in the first and the mention of the Family of 'Imran in the second. If someone asks why it is not called "the Family of Ibrahim," since the verse containing the Family of 'Imran also contains the Family of Ibrahim, we say: naming does not require a complete correspondence; naming is based on the slightest connection. Therefore, you will find that Muzdalifah is called "Jama'" (gathering) and 'Arafah is not called "Jama'," even though people gather in 'Arafah and in Muzdalifah. Add to that that they gather in Mina even more than in Muzdalifah, staying there for three days, yet Mina is not called "Jama'" but rather "Mina" because of the abundance of blood shed there. The scholars say that naming is based on the slightest connection. Yes. And his saying:
for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks
Sahih Muslim 804a
The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) gave three examples: two clouds. "Ghamam" is the known cloud, and some restricted it to being white because the white cloud is cooler than the black cloud, as is known. As for "Ghayaytan," it means a canopy that covers a person, whether in the form of a cloud or otherwise. As for "Firqan min tayr sawaf," "al-Firqan" means two groups of birds, and a gathered group of birds is called a "Firq." The meaning is that they come as if they were two groups of birds, one for the Family of 'Imran and one for al-Baqarah, arguing on behalf of their owners. So he mentioned two benefits in al-Baqarah and the Family of 'Imran: first, shading the reader, and second, arguing on his behalf. As for the rest of the Qur'an, he said:
It will come as an intercessor for its people
. Intercession is weaker than arguing, because the intercessor only mediates for the one for whom he intercedes without arguing on his behalf, but arguing is more effective in defending him. Thus, al-Baqarah and the Family of 'Imran are distinguished from the rest of the Qur'an by three things: first, arguing; second, shade; and third, intercession. Yes, they share with the rest of the Qur'an. Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) then said:
Read the Surah al-Baqarah
Here the word "Surah" appeared, whereas it was omitted in the first instance. But I say that the preserved wording from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) may be this, or it may be a modification by the narrators, and the matter is broad in this regard.
Recite Surah al-Baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief
Sahih Muslim 804a
"Taking it" means reading it and acting upon it. It is a blessing, and this is the truth from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), without doubt. Therefore, if a person reads al-Baqarah frequently, Allah the Exalted will send down blessing for him in all his deeds, but only with acting upon what is in it. Leaving it is regret; leaving it means turning away from it, not reading it, or not acting upon it. And the sorcerers cannot overcome it, meaning the witches, so it repels magic from a person because the sorcerers cannot overcome it, as the sorcerers are from the jinn. And Allah the Exalted said in al-Baqarah, speaking about the sorcerers:
But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah
[Al-Baqarah 2:102]
Therefore, whoever reads al-Baqarah with sincerity and faith, the sorcerers cannot overcome him. As for the hadith that follows, the hadith of al-Nu'as ibn Sim'an, he says:
On the Day of Resurrection the Qur'an and those who acted
Sahih Muslim 805
What?
those who acted according to it will be brought with Surah al-Baqara and AI 'Imran preceding them
Sahih Muslim 805
Pay attention to his saying: "its people who act upon it," not "its people who recite it frequently." Recitation is a means, and the goal is action. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described its people as those who act upon it. Al-Baqarah and the Family of 'Imran precede it.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) likened them to three things, which I did not forget afterwards. He (the Holy Prophet) likened them to two clouds, or two black canopies
Sahih Muslim 805
What are the two canopies? The two shades, in the previous hadith. But he says: two black ones with a gap between them, or a "shirq" or "sharq." "Sharq" or "sharq" is derived from "shuruq," the rising of the sun, meaning there is a bright light separating them, or as if they were two groups of birds in flight. "Hazqan" means "firqan" as mentioned in the first hadith. They argue on behalf of their owner. Yes.
