The reciter: And Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to me, and 'Abd al-Wahhab ibn 'Abd al-Majid narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: Sahih Muslim 867a.
The Shaykh : This is from the forms of his sermon (peace and blessings be upon him) and its manner. He says: When he delivered the sermon, his eyes would redden, meaning from the intensity of anger, because when a person becomes angry, his eyes redden, especially if there is a cause for it, such as if he were preaching about a predicament the people had fallen into, a deviation from the Shari'ah, so his words must have an impact.
And his saying:: means it rose. It is known that this occurs in sermons of admonition, which are intended to deter.
upon whom? His anger intensified toward the people, because of the deviation that occurred from them. Bulugh al-Maram 2:368
And he would say:Sahih Muslim 867a like these two, meaning close together, because he (peace and blessings be upon him) is the last of the prophets. He once preached to the people and said: which indicates the nearness of the Hour. And yet, more than fifteen centuries have now passed since his migration, and the Hour has not come, and we do not know the future. This indicates that the time of this world was very long.
And he would say:Sahih Muslim 867a, "As for what follows": this is a phrase said in sermons when entering the topic, and it is not as some have generalized it when transitioning from one style to another, but rather it is used to enter the topic, the topic of the sermon.
Sahih Muslim 867a: "The best of speech," and this is more comprehensive than the phrase "the most truthful of speech," because "the best of speech" includes excellence in reports, which is truth, excellence in rulings, which is justice, and excellence in stories, which is taking a lesson. It encompasses all that is in the Qur'an of good, and it is better than some people's saying "the most truthful of speech."
Sahih Muslim 867a: Here he says "the Book of Allah" is attributed to Him, because He, Glorified and Exalted is He, spoke with it in reality. So He, (Exalted and Majestic is He), is the One who spoke the Qur'an in this Arabic language. Who received it from Him? Jibril, then it descended upon the heart of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
: "Guidance" means the path, the Sunnah, the practice, and the methodology. (peace and blessings be upon him): The phrase (peace and blessings be upon him) is not mentioned in the hadith, and there is no harm in that, meaning it is not necessary to mention the prayer upon him. The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, meaning the best of the path and the Sunnah is the Sunnah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), verbal, practical, and character-based.
, "matters" is the plural of "matter," meaning affair.
When Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) delivered the sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose, and his anger increased so that he was like one giving a warning against the enemy and saying: "The enemy has made a morning attack on you and in the evening too." He would also say: "The Last Hour and I have been sent like these two." And he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would further say: "The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the best of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error." He would further say:, I am more dear to a Muslim even than his self; and he who left behind property that is for his family; and he who dies under debt or leaves children (in helplessness), the responsibility (of paying his debt and bringing up his children) lies on me."
The Shaykh : This is from the forms of his sermon (peace and blessings be upon him) and its manner. The Last Hour and I have been sent like these two." And he would join his forefinger and middle finger
بعِثت أنا والساعة كهاتين ويقرن بين أصبعيه السبابة والوسطىThere remains in the world until now only as much as remains of your day, and the sun was at the tips of the palm trees
