What is the ruling on offering one’s parents as a ransom if they are deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on offering one’s parents as a ransom if they are deceased?

The Shaykh : By Allah, this is the lesser of the two, provided that no one imagines that he intends that if they were alive, he would ransom them. This is because after death, they are not alive, so we do not say that he prefers this over them. They have died.
