The ruling on giving charity on behalf of one's parents after their death

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner asks: What is the ruling on one who gives charity and says, "O Allah, make the reward of that for my father and my mother," or for his deceased wife, or otherwise? Will he receive the full reward of the charity?

Answer:
Yes, there is nothing wrong with that. One gives charity on behalf of the deceased, his father or his mother or his wife; all of this is good and benefits her, it benefits the deceased. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about this, and he said: Yes. A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! My mother died and she did not leave a bequest. Will she have a reward if I give charity on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Yesنعم
-peace and blessings be upon him- and he said -peace and blessings be upon him-:
When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).إذا مات ابن آدم انقطع عمله إلا من ثلاث: صدقة جارية، أو علم ينتفع به، أو ولد صالح يدعو له
Riyad as-Salihin 1383
.
And likewise, when he was asked about performing Hajj on behalf of the deceased, he answered that there is nothing wrong with it. A woman asked if she could perform Hajj on behalf of her father, an old man who was unable to do so. He said:
Yes, perform Hajj on behalf of your fatherنعم حجي عن أبيك
He said:
Perform Hajj on behalf of your father and perform Umrah.حج عن أبيك واعتمر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 930Sahih (Darussalam)
And so it is with Hajj on behalf of the deceased, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence the Shaykh.
