The Book of Jumu'ah, the Two 'Eids, Istisqa', the Eclipse, and Funerals-04a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us: Abu Khaythamah informed us from Asim al-Ahwal from Hafsah bint Sirin from Umm Atiyyah, who said:
We were commanded to go out as well as the hidden away ladies and those unmarried. She said menstruating women were to come out amongst you, but remain behind people and pronounce takbir (Allah-o-Akbar) along with them.
Sahih Muslim 890b
.

The Shaykh : In this is evidence for what we previously mentioned, namely that the Eid prayer ground is a mosque. For this reason, the menstruating women were ordered to keep away from it. Some people have cited His saying:
saying takbir with the people يكبّرن مع النّاس
as evidence that the takbir on Eid day in the mosque is done collectively. It has also been reported:
saying takbir with their takbir يُكبّرن بتكبيرهم
. There is no doubt that the wording allows for this interpretation: that they say takbir together so that the voice is louder, and this is more effective in manifesting the religious observance. It is also possible that the preposition "ba" means "with," meaning they say takbir along with their takbir. However, being together does not necessarily imply synchronization, such that the takbir begins and ends at the same time with one mouth. As long as the matter is ambiguous, there is no blame on the one who does this, nor on the one who does that; that is, there is no blame on the one who says takbir collectively, nor on the one who does it individually, because the text is ambiguous. However, the stronger opinion is that each person says takbir alone, because the default is that there is no gathering, so each person says takbir.
In this is evidence that the people in the Eid prayer ground raise their voices with takbir, due to His saying:
remain behind people and pronounce takbir (Allah-o-Akbar) along with them يكنَّ خلف الناس يُكبّرن مع الناس
Sahih Muslim 890b
. This indicates that they raise their voices so that the women who are behind the men can hear them.
