The reciter: And Hārūn ibn Ma'rūf narrated to me, Ibn Wahb narrated to us from Amr ibn al-Hārith. And Abū al-Ṭāhir narrated to me, Abdu llāh ibn Wahb informed us, Amr ibn al-Hārith informed us that Abū al-Naḍr narrated to him from Sulaymān ibn Yasar from A'ishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that she said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) laughing with his mouth open until I could see his molars; he only used to smile. She said: And when he saw clouds or wind, that was known on his face. She said: O Messenger of Allah, I see that when people see clouds they rejoice, hoping that there will be rain in them, and I see that when you see them, I know dislike on your face? She said: He said: O A'ishah, what reassures me is that there may be punishment in them. A people were punished by the wind, and a people saw the punishment and said: This is a cloud that will bring us rain.
The Shaykh : Her statement (may Allah be pleased with her):Sunan al-Bayhaqi 18:257 means that he (peace and blessings be upon him), when something occurred that warranted laughter, did not do as some people do: they gather themselves, get excited about laughing, open their mouths wide, and make a sound, as is found in some people. Some people, when they burst out laughing, almost knock the ceiling down on themselves! Because of the intensity of their laughter, even though they could have settled for less than that. But this is their habit; perhaps they intend it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not have this in his way. When he saw what pleased him and warranted laughter, he would smile until his molars or canines were visible. As for opening his mouth until his molars were visible, that was not part of his way (peace and blessings be upon him).
The point of this hadith is her statement:Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 251 And on this basis, it is obligatory for a person to be fearful of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and of His punishment, because it is not to be taken for granted, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the people of Hūd: they rejoiced when they saw the clouds coming toward their valleys and said: This is a cloud that will rain, the valleys will flow, and ease and abundance will be attained. But the matter was contrary to what they expected.
