The questioner : He says in this letter of his: I have a mosque in a small village with a population of about forty-one. They did not all pray on Friday; rather, only a few people prayed. Is the sermon permissible for them or not? Thank you.

The Shaykh : If this village does not have a congregational mosque, and there is no village nearby where the congregation is gathered, then it is obligatory for them to pray Friday. They should appoint an imam to deliver the sermon to them and lead them in the Friday prayer. It is recommended that this issue be referred to the General President of the Departments of Scientific Research, Ifta, Da'wah, and Guidance, because it is they who decide on such matters.
