The questioner : What are the pillars and conditions of breastfeeding? Is breastfeeding without intervals considered breastfeeding? And how many feedings are required for it to be considered a forbidden breastfeeding? May Allah guide you and reward you with good.

The Shaykh : The feedings that create a prohibition are five feedings.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As narrated by Muslim from the hadith of Aisha, she said: "Among what was revealed regarding breastfeeding were ten known feedings that create a prohibition, but this was abrogated by five known feedings". These are the feedings that create a prohibition: five feedings. They must occur before weaning, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Aisha:
Be sure about your foster brothers, as fostership is only valid if it takes place in the suckling period (before two years of age). انظرن من إخوانكن فإنما الرضاعة من المجاعة
Sahih al-Bukhari 2647
.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : That is, it must occur during the period of infancy when the child is hungry and is satisfied by milk, which is before weaning.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : If it occurs after that, it has no effect. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.
