Throwing with large pebbles: Is it sufficient?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Adam: The pebbles for stoning. If one throws with large stones, is that sufficient?

The Shaykh : If one brings a large stone, it is not sufficient, or if it is very small, like a grain of corn, it is not sufficient. But these ignorant people have no one to inform them of anything. Also, they believe that they are stoning Satan. This is a problem. We have heard some of them say: "May the curse of Allah be upon you! You are the one who separated me from my wife! You are the one who ruined my house! May your house be ruined!"
I saw with my own eyes a man, before these great crowds, at the Jamarat al-Aqabah, with a woman with him—I do not know if she was his wife or someone else. The important thing is that people were throwing pebbles at their backs while they were crawling. The one who was standing was being hit with the sandals they had with them or their garments, and people were throwing pebbles at their backs, and they did not care. It was as if they were acting out the words of the one who said:
"And are you not but a finger that has bled? *** And what you have met is in the path of Allah."
All of this is due to ignorance. It is obligatory for students of knowledge to make it clear to people that these rituals and acts of worship are great. So let them perform them with humility and mercy toward their weak brothers.
Some people come as if they are a raging camel, as if there are no people in front of them.
