The questioner : In his letter, he says: When I urinate, not all of the urine comes out; a little remains. I try to expel it, but I cannot. After that, I perform wudu for prayer. While I am on my way to the mosque or during the prayer, I feel that the remainder has come out. When I finish praying, I go home and wash the place where the impurity was. Is my prayer valid? What is the ruling and the solution in this case? May Allah guide you.

The Shaykh : Ameen. The solution in this case is, first, to consult a specialist in the urinary tract, so that you may find with him a cure by which Allah heals this illness. As for the legal ruling in this matter, you should urinate before the time for prayer arrives, and remain in that state until all the urine has come out. If you are convinced in your mind that all the urine has come out, and you then perform istinja' and wudu, and go out to the mosque, and you feel that something has come out: if you are not certain that it came out, you owe nothing. But if you are certain that it came out, your wudu is invalidated. You must return home, wash your clothes and whatever was soiled by the urine, and perform wudu again so that you may pray a valid prayer.

The questioner : From Noura 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dahmash, from Muzdalifah, the Holy Makkah.
