Benefits of the Hadith: (… A woman is married for four reasons: her wealth, her lineage, her beauty, and her religion. So, seize the one with religion, and your hands will be dusted.)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This explains what is chosen from women. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who is the truthful one, said:
A woman is married for four things. تنكح المرأة لأربع
This means the one who intends to marry a woman. The purposes for which a woman is married are four: wealth. Why? To become self-sufficient through it. If a woman marries a man and Allah places affection between them, everything becomes permissible in her eyes, so he becomes self-sufficient through her wealth. The second is her lineage, meaning she should be of noble lineage, i.e., honorable, from a noble people, while he is from a people of lower status. Thus, his lineage is elevated by her lineage until it is said, "So-and-so married from the family of so-and-so, the noble people of high lineage." The third is her beauty. She is married for her beauty, whether it is beauty in physical form or beauty in character. Character undoubtedly gives a woman beauty. Whether the beauty is in some part of the body, such as the face, or in the whole body, the important thing is that beauty has many aspects. The fourth is her religion. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed her religion last. The scholars said this is so that the suitor first asks about her wealth, then what? Her lineage, then her beauty, then her religion, so that his decision to proceed or refrain is for the sake of religion. For example, he asks about her wealth and they say, "She is rich; her father left her millions of dirhams." Note this. Her lineage: a noble woman from the nobles of the people, from a noble tribe. Note this. Her beauty: one of the most beautiful women in the world. Note this. Her religion: and, by Allah, it is average. If he proceeds or refrains, then he is the prudent one. Because a woman with religion may influence her husband, especially if she is beautiful and attracts him with her beauty; he may be deceived and follow her in lacking religion. Some people say, "Perhaps her religion will increase and I will overcome her." We say, yes, perhaps. But we have a second "perhaps," which is? That she may sweep you away. It is said that a man went out to the minaret to call the adhan and saw a very beautiful Christian woman on the roof of a house. He fell in love with her and asked to marry her. She married him. Is this permissible or not? It is permissible because she is a People of the Book. She said, "I will not accept unless you disbelieve in Muhammad and believe in Jesus." He tried her, he tried her, but she refused except on this condition. When he disbelieved in Muhammad and believed in Jesus, she said, "You have betrayed your religion, so I will not accept you." Allahu Akbar! He was treated with the opposite of his intention. So, the important thing is that if a woman is not one of religion, she may sweep away her husband and lead him to lacking religion. Also, suppose she does not lead him, and he is a prudent man who is not affected in his religion; she may still delay in fulfilling his rights. If love is not mutual between them, she may delay in fulfilling his rights and not perform them, and she did not ask about this because she is not religious. So, the important thing is that religion is the most important matter. It protects you when you are absent, protects your privacy, disciplines your children, and sets your affairs right. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Seize the one with religion اظفر بذات الدين
This means strive for her as a fighter strives for spoils of war. Then he said:
Your hands will be dusted ترتبت يداك
This means look at the meaning: if you seize the one with religion, you will become poor. Because the meaning of "your hands will be dusted" is that they stick to the dust from poverty. Yes, is this the meaning? No. This phrase is the ultimate expression of encouragement and urging. The Arabs use this construction for what? For encouragement and urging. Some scholars said, "May your right hand be dusted if you do not seize her," making it based on a deleted condition, i.e., "May your right hand be dusted if you do not seize her." But it is said there is no need for this, as long as this is a known Arabic style intended for what? Encouragement and urging. So there is no need to assume a deleted element, because the original rule is not to assume. Know that if you choose the one with religion, following the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah will make her who was not beautiful what? Beautiful, because you sought guidance by the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and chose her for that reason. Allah the Exalted may make the beautiful ugly and the ugly beautiful, even in what a person sees before him. For example, a woman who is his wife, he sees her as not beautiful, but Allah beautifies her in his eyes and makes her beautiful in his eyes until he sees her as the most beautiful woman in the world. Or it may be the opposite. So, the important thing is that whoever seizes the one with religion, following the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), should be glad of good. There is a difference between "taraaba" and "ataraaba," which we will mention, if Allah wills, after the adhan. The difference between "ataraaba" and "taraaba": "Ataraaba" means he became rich until his wealth was like dust from its abundance. "Taraaba" means he became poor because it sticks his hand to the dust; he has nothing. And on this basis, the poet said: "And if they become rich, they are generous *** And if they become poor, they are content"
"If they become rich, they are generous" means because they are wealthy. "And if they become poor, they are content" means they are content without asking people.
