The questioner : They also say that if a person is ill and is directed to someone who recites over the patient and gives him medicine according to what he sees, saying that so-and-so has such-and-such and he did such-and-such for him, or if he fell in a place where there are jinn, what is the ruling on that?
The Shaykh : If the man he went to is one of the righteous, known for his uprightness, steadfastness, and trustworthiness, then there is nothing wrong with going to him to have him recite the prescribed supplications and give him from the permissible medicines what he may benefit from.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : As for his informing about what happened to the person, there is nothing wrong with that either, if the man who informs is known for his truthfulness, faith, and piety, because he may have a companion among the jinn who informs him of what occurred. The forbidden thing, which is not permissible to believe, is if he informs about something in the future; for this is not permissible because it is fortune-telling, and fortune-telling is forbidden, and it is forbidden to believe in it. Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
The questioner : O Allah, send blessings.
The Shaykh : The past is not the unseen because it is witnessed and known.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : However, it may be unseen for one person but not for another, and it is not impossible that one of the jinn knows it and informs his companion of it. Yes.
