The reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to me, saying: Mu'adh ibn Mu'adh narrated to me. And 'Abd Allah ibn Mu'adh narrated to us, and the wording is his, saying: Our father narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us from 'Adi ibn Thabit, who said: I heard al-Bara' narrating from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said regarding the Ansar: Sahih Muslim 75 Shu'bah said: I said to 'Adi: Did you hear it from al-Bara'? He said: He narrated it to me.
The Shaykh : This means that this is more eloquent than him merely hearing it. That is, when a hadith is directed to a person, it is more eloquent than if he heard him narrating it to someone else.
And in this hadith is evidence that loving the Ansar is a sign of faith and a mark of faith. The Ansar are those who settled in the land and in faith before the Muhajirun, from the Aws and the Khazraj and others. Loving them is part of faith because they supported the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and gave him shelter, and they shared with him and equaled the Muhajirun with their wealth, to the extent that some of them would offer one of his two wives to a Muhajir man.
And there is no doubt that every believer loves whoever supported the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and every hypocrite hates whoever supported the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And in this is evidence that loving those whom Allah loves is a cause for Allah's love. There are many causes for Allah's love, but among them is that you love those whom Allah loves. So if you love the Ansar, Allah loves you, and if you love the Muhajirun, Allah loves you even more, because the Muhajirun combined migration and support. The Muhajirun combined two things: they left their lands, their wealth, and their homelands for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, and they supported Allah and His Messenger.
For this reason, the Exalted said:[Al-Hashr 59:8] They are the Muhajirun and the Ansar [Al-Hashr 59:9] These are the Ansar
So whoever loves the Muhajirun, Allah loves him, and whoever hates them, Allah hates him.
And in this is evidence that whoever hates the Muhajirun and the Ansar is the most intense in hatred. Those people who hate the Companions and insult them and curse them, there is no doubt that Allah hates them, because they hate the Muhajirun and hate the Ansar, and this is a sign of Allah's hatred for them. For this reason, they were not successful in any of their issues; rather, whoever reflects on their conditions finds that they are truly against the Muslims and against Islam.
None but the believer loves them, none but the hypocrite hates them. He who loves them loves Allah and he who hates them hates Allah.
لا يحبهم إلا مؤمن، ولا يبغضهم إلا منافق من أحبهم أحبه الله ومن أبغضهم أبغضه اللهThe Shaykh : This means that this is more eloquent than him merely hearing it. That is, when a hadith is directed to a person, it is more eloquent than if he heard him narrating it to someone else.

For this reason, the Exalted said:
For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger
للفقراء المهاجرين الذين أخرجوا من ديارهم وأموالهم يبتغون فضلاً من الله ورضوان وينصرون الله ورسولهThose are the truthful ones
أولئك هم الصادقونAnd [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation.
والذين تبوءوا الدار والإيمان من قبلهم يحبون من هاجر إليهم ولا يجدون في صدورهم حاجة مما أوتوا ويؤثرون على أنفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصةSo whoever loves the Muhajirun, Allah loves him, and whoever hates them, Allah hates him.
