Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : She also asks: What is meant by Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and what do you know about them, as mentioned in the Noble Qur'an?

The Shaykh : What is meant by Ya'juj and Ma'juj is that they are two tribes from the descendants of Adam, as stated in the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). What is found in some books about them being very short and small, or large, or one who spreads one of his ears and wraps himself in the other, and the like of that, all of this has no basis.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Rather, they are from the descendants of Adam and possess the nature of the descendants of Adam, but in the time of Dhul-Qarnayn, they were a people who corrupted the earth.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So their neighbors asked Dhul-Qarnayn to build a barrier between them and them to prevent them from reaching them and corrupting their land.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And he did so, and said:
Bring me sheets of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls ءاتوني زبر الحديد حتى إذا ساوى بين الصدفين
[Al-Kahf 18:96]
the two mountains
he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper." قال ءاتوني أفرغ عليه قطرا
[Al-Kahf 18:96]
So they did
So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration. فما اسطاعوا أن يظهروه وما استطاعوا له نقبا
[Al-Kahf 18:97]
and Allah protected their neighbors from their evil.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Then, in the end of times, after the descent of 'Isa (peace be upon him), they will emerge upon the people and be sent forth. "Sent forth" means that they will emerge and spread across the earth, and they will besiege 'Isa ibn Maryam and the believers with him in the mountain of Bayt al-Maqdis. Then Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) will cast a worm into their necks that will eat their necks, and they will become a prey, meaning a collective prey.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Meaning they will all be dead, dead like one man, and Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will protect 'Isa and his companions from their evil.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
