Explanation of the author's statement: "The second group: the Wa'idiyah from the Mu'tazilah and the Khawarij, who excluded the people of major sins from faith and said"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The second group, I think, is the beginning of today's lesson.
"The second group: the Wa'idiyah from the Mu'tazilah and the Khawarij".
The Wa'idiyah are the opposite of the Murji'ah, because the Murji'ah act upon the texts of hope and turn away from the texts of warning, while the Wa'idiyah do the opposite: they take the texts of warning and leave the texts of hope.
"And they—meaning the Wa'idiyah—are those who excluded the people of major sins from faith".
This is their doctrine. They say: The one who commits a major sin is not a believer. Whoever kills a soul has exited Islam, whoever commits unlawful sexual intercourse has exited Islam, whoever drinks intoxicants has exited Islam, whoever consumes usury or interest has exited Islam, and so on. Every major sin, if a person commits it, means he has exited faith.
But they differ among themselves. The Mu'tazilah say: He is in a state between two states. The Khawarij say: He is a disbeliever.
Well, this is not our concern.
The important point is that they say: The one who commits a major sin has exited faith. And they said: Faith is either present in its entirety or absent in its entirety, and they denied that it varies in degree.
Yes, they said faith is either present in its entirety or absent in its entirety.
And they hold that if a person commits a major sin, he exits faith, because it is not possible for him to be in a state of faith and disbelief simultaneously; it is either faith or disbelief.
