Commentary on Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim-03b

The reader: "And he also narrated in *his Sahih* from Thawban, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

Allah drew the ends of the world near one another for my sake. And I have seen its eastern and western ends. And the dominion of my Ummah would reach those ends which have been drawn near me and I have been granted the red and the white treasure

إن الله زوى لي الأرض ، فرأيت مشارقها ومغاربها ، وإن أمتي سيبلغ ملكها ما زُوى لي منها ، وأعطيت الكنزين الأحمر والأبيض

The reader: "

the red and the white treasure and I begged my Lord for my Ummah that it should not be destroyed because of famine, nor be dominated by an enemy who is not amongst them to take their lives and destroy them root and branch, and my Lord said: Muhammad, whenever I make a decision, there is none to change it. I grant you for your Ummah that it would not be destroyed by famine and it would not be dominated by an enemy who would not be amongst it and would take their lives and destroy them root and branch even if all the people from the different parts of the world join hands together (for this purpose), but it would be from amongst them, viz. your Ummah, that some people would kill the others or imprison the others.

الأحمرَ والأبيض وإني سألت ربي لأمتي : أن لا يُهلكها بسنة بعامة ، وأن لا يُسلط عليهم عدوا من سوى أنفسهم ، فيستبيح بيضتهم، وإن ربي قال : يا محمد إذا قضيتُ قضاءً فإنه لا يرد ، وإني أعطيتك لأمتك أن لا أهلكهم بسَنة بعامة، وأن لا أُسلط عليهم عدوا من سوى أنفسهم ، فيستبيح بيضتهم ، ولو اجتمع عليهم من بأقطارها - أو قال : من بين أقطارها - حتى يكون بعضهم يهلك بعضا ، ويسبي بعضهم بعضا

Sahih Muslim 2889a

And al-Barqani narrated it in *his Sahih* and added:

And I only fear for my Ummah the misleading imams. And when the sword falls upon them, it will not be lifted until the Day of Resurrection. And the Hour will not come until a tribe of my Ummah joins the polytheists, and until groups of my Ummah worship idols. And there will be in my Ummah thirty liars, each of them claiming to be a prophet, and I am the Seal of the Prophets, there is no prophet after me. And a group from my Ummah will remain upon the truth, supported, and those who abandon them will not harm them until the command of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) comes

وإنما أخاف على أمتي الأئمة المضلين ، وإذا وقع عليهم السيف لم يُرفع إلى يوم القيامة ، ولا تقوم الساعة حتى يلحق حي من أمتي بالمشركين ، وحتى يعبد فئام من أمتي الأوثان ، وإنه سيكون في أمتي كذابون ثلاثون ، كلهم يزعم أنه نبي وأنا خاتم النبيين لا نبي بعدي ، ولا تزال ، طائفة من أمتي على الحق منصورة لا يضرهم من خذلهم حتى يأتي أمر الله تبارك وتعالى

And this meaning is preserved from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from other sources, indicating that division and disagreement must occur in the Ummah, and he warned his Ummah so that whoever Allah wills safety for may be saved from it, as narrated by al-Nazal ibn Sabrah " .
The student: I do not have "whoever Allah wills safety for"

The Shaykh : Yes, what?
The reader: I do not have "whoever Allah wills safety for," I have only "whoever Allah wills."

The Shaykh : And that is also with me, but well, mentioning safety is good, meaning the Messenger informed that this disagreement would occur, and it did, but he informed of it not as a report but as a warning, so that whoever Allah wills safety for may be saved from it. Yes.
