How to Wipe the Head During Ablution for a Woman
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, your sister in Allah, Umm Muhammad, says in this question: I read a fatwa regarding wiping the head in ablution, stating that the man, like the woman, should wipe once from front to back, and then once from back to front. But this is difficult for us, she says, women, because of the disheveling of the hair, especially for those who tie their hair up. What is obligatory for us? And if we wipe and forget to do so, should we go back and wipe again, and then wash the feet?
Answer:
Wiping is sufficient, even if he does not return his hands. Wiping is sufficient for the man and the woman, but if he returns his hands, that is better; because of the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He would start with the front of his head, then move them to the back of his head, then return them to the place where he started. If he does this, it is better. And if he wipes from the middle of the head and covers it, or from the front, or from the back, that is sufficient; because Allah commanded the wiping of the head, and this is sufficient. And the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would wipe his head, as Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) commanded. So if he does the manner that is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him), which is starting from the front of the head to the back, then returning his hands; this is better. Otherwise, it is not obligatory. The important thing is wiping from the middle, or from the front, or from the back. If he covers it with wiping, that is sufficient, and praise be to Allah, for the man and the woman.
