The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment:
I think we took the hadith of Aisha and its benefits?
The student: We did not take the benefits.
The Shaykh : All right, he said:Bulugh al-Maram 78:
"Remembers Allah": It is possible that the intended meaning of dhikr here is verbal dhikr with the tongue, and this is the apparent meaning, meaning that he says: "There is no god but Allah." It is also possible that it is general for the dhikr of the heart, the limbs, and the tongue, because dhikr is done with the heart, with the tongue, and with the limbs. Dhikr with the heart is: remembering Allah (Mighty and Majestic), His greatness, hoping in Him, fearing Him, being in awe of Him, loving Him, magnifying Him, and the like. This is the dhikr of Allah with the heart.
And the dhikr of Allah with the tongue is: tasbih, takbir, tahlil, and the like, and in the general sense, it includes every word that brings one closer to Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And the dhikr of Allah with the limbs is: such as ruku', sujud, standing, and sitting in prayer, and walking in calling to Allah, and the like.
So dhikr, then, is connected to the heart, the tongue, and the limbs.
And what appears from the hadith of Aisha is that her intended meaning is what is connected to the tongue, meaning: that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) remembers Allah constantly.
And her saying:: means in every time that passes, and it is the same as the saying of the one who says: in all his states, meaning: standing, sitting, and lying on his side, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said: [Ali 'Imran 3:191].
This hadith was brought by the author (may Allah have mercy on him) in the chapter on things that break wudu' to indicate that it is not a condition for remembering Allah that a person be in a state of ritual purity, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) would remember Allah in all his states. As for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to the man who greeted him and he did not return the greeting until he performed tayammum, then he returned the greeting and said:Sahih Ibn Hibban 7:198, this is from the category of what is recommended, not from the category of what is obligatory, meaning: that it is befitting for a person, if he wants to remember Allah, to be in a state of purity, but if he remembers Allah while not in a state of purity, there is no sin on him and no blame on him.
