Benefits of the Hadith: (And 'Isha is sometimes delayed; if he sees them gathering, he hastens it...)

The Shaykh : In this hadith, there are several benefits. First: It is recommended for the imam to consider the people regarding advancing or delaying the 'Isha prayer specifically. Do we extend this ruling to other prayers by analogy? That is, if we see people delaying what is recommended to be advanced, do we delay it? The answer is yes, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he hastened what was recommended to be delayed out of consideration for the people, we should delay what is recommended to be hastened out of consideration for them, and there is no difference. For example, if this area has a mosque and the employees are busy with work and do not... all of them except at the end of the time, do we say that the best here is to delay in order to consider their gathering? The answer is yes, if that is more convenient for them. However, if that is more convenient for the lazy ones, and the energetic ones prefer advancing, then the lazy ones are not to be considered. Among the benefits of this hadith is the good care of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) for his Ummah and his Companions, where he considers them in acts of worship, provided that this consideration does not involve falling into what is forbidden or leaving what is obligatory. Among the benefits of this hadith is that a person is excused for being late to prayer if he does not fear missing it, because the Companions would be late to... yes, they would hasten within the time and delay it according to the circumstances. For example, there might be rain, there might be darkness, or there might be wind that necessitates them being late. Among the benefits of this hadith is that the Sunnah is to advance the Fajr prayer, based on his saying: Bulugh al-Maram 2:5 Does one distinguish between winter and summer regarding advancing the Fajr prayer? Some scholars hold that one should distinguish, saying: Delay the Fajr prayer if it is summer, because people do not sleep much at night. And hasten the Fajr prayer if it is winter, because people sleep a lot and come to the mosque while still energetic. If the imam sees the benefit in doing so, let him do it.
