Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And follow what is revealed to you from your Lord”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And follow what is revealed to you from your Lord وَاتَّبِعْ مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ
We say regarding “follow what is revealed to you.” Just as we said regarding “fear Allah,” meaning persist in following it and following what is revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), following him includes following him in conveying the message, following him in calling to it, and following him in acting upon it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is commanded to do all three: to convey it, to call to it, and to act upon it. And His saying,
what is revealed to you مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ
“revelation” originally means informing quickly and secretly. Informing quickly and secretly is called revelation, and what is meant here is conveying to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) what Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has legislated, whether through an intermediary or without one. It is known that the revelation of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is apparent or not. It is apparent. No, because the Messenger does not know that he is being revealed to except by what appears of the signs of revelation, but we do not know how it is revealed to him except that he informed us of that. And His saying:
what is revealed to you مَا يُوحَى إِلَيْكَ
“what” is a relative pronoun from the forms of generality, encompassing everything that is revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
