Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((When the fear has passed, they will attack you with sharp tongues, greedy for good))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Yes, he said: "
But when fear departs
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
and the spoils of war were gathered
they will attack you سَلَقُوكُمْ
they hurt you or struck you
with sharp tongues, indisposed toward [any] good
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
meaning, they seek the spoils
those are the ones who did not believe
in reality
so Allah has rendered their deeds worthless
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
These people, who during the fear were like one overcome by death, began to speak with fluency
they will attack you سَلَقُوكُمْ
meaning, they struck you severely
with sharp tongues بِأَلْسِنَةٍ حِدَادٍ
meaning, severe and strong. The intended meaning of "tongues" here is speech, because speech is referred to by the tongue. The meaning is that they argue and debate, saying, "We are with you, we help, we went out," and the like. Yes, as Allah the Exalted said in Surat al-Nisa:
Then if you gain a victory from Allah, they say, "Were we not with you?"
[al-Nisa: 141] and they repeated and returned in their victory over the Muslims, because there is no doubt that a person may overcome his opponent with speech, as Allah the Exalted said in the story of Dawud:
so he said, 'Entrust her to me,' and he overpowered me in speech." فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ
[Sad: 23] "He overpowered me in speech." A person who has clarity and eloquence may overcome, even if he is in the wrong. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
You bring to me, for (judgment) your disputes, some of you perhaps being more eloquent in their plea than others, so I give judgment on their behalf according to what I hear from them
Sahih Muslim 1713a
meaning, even if he is in the wrong, a person may overcome the truth with his clarity. Therefore, as you know, it came in the authentic hadith:
Some eloquent speech is as effective as magic.
Sahih al-Bukhari 5767
These hypocrites, in the state of fear, are in the form that Allah the Mighty and Majestic described:
they look at you ينظرون إليك
their eyes roll about like one overcome by death. But when the fear has passed and they feel secure,
they lash you with sharp tongues
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
meaning, they strike you severely with these sharp tongues
indisposed toward [any] good
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
this is the state of the "wa" (and) in His saying:
they will attack you سلقوكم
Yes
indisposed toward [any] good
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
What is the intended meaning of "good" here? The author says: the spoils of war that the Muslims obtained through their victory. He said:
indisposed toward [any] good. Those have not believed
[Al-Ahzab 33:19]
in reality, if they had believed, they would not have done this deed, nor would they have feared the resurrection, nor would they have claimed what they did not deserve when the battle ended. Yes, be patient.
