Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And Allah repelled those who disbelieved in their rage, having not attained any good))
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah Mighty and Majestic said: [Al-Ahzab: 25] "Repelled them" means He turned them back on their heels, disappointed. "Those who disbelieved" refers to the confederates from Quraysh and others. And His saying: The preposition "ba" here indicates association, meaning they were accompanied by rage. The prepositional phrase is in the position of an accusative of state, meaning they returned in the utmost rage. The reason for their rage is that they came with this large gathering, which had no parallel at that time, seeking what? They sought to eliminate the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). And yet, what happened to them? They suffered fatigue, hardship, hunger, and affliction, and in the end, they returned fleeing. Undoubtedly, such a thing affects a person; it fills his heart with rage, regret, and remorse. How could he bring this army that he gathered for them, began with, and renewed, only for it to turn back without a battle taking place? For this reason, He said: [Al-Ahzab 33:25] "Good" from what? Not from the matters of this world, nor from the matters of the Hereafter. As for the Hereafter, they did not attain any good because of their fighting against the Prophet in any case. As for this world, what they considered good for themselves, did they attain it? No. They did not attain any good, neither in religion nor in this world, praise be to Allah. Even what they considered good, namely the defeat of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the elimination of him and his Companions, did not happen to them. [Al-Ahzab 33:25] And His saying: "Good" is an indefinite noun in the context of negation. What does "lam" mean? It indicates generality, meaning they did not attain any good, neither little nor much. This is from the grace of Allah Mighty and Majestic. And Allah attributed the repelling to Himself [Al-Ahzab 33:25] because their return was not by the power of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) or his strength, nor by the power of his Companions or their strength, but by the power of Allah the Exalted and His strength.
