Explanation of the words of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths are in the chapter on patience and indicate the virtue of patience. As for the first hadith: the hadith of Mu'adh ibn Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever suppresses his anger while he is able to carry it out, Allah will call him out on the Day of Resurrection over the heads of the creation, over the heads of the creation on the Day of Resurrection, and allow him to choose from any of the houris he desires. مَن كظم غيظا وهو قادر على أن ينفذه دعاه الله يوم القيامة على رؤوس الخلائق ، على رؤوس الخلائق يوم القيامة فخيره من أي الحور شاء
: Anger (ghayz) is intense anger; severe anger is called ghayz. The angry person is one who imagines himself capable of carrying it out, because one who is unable does not become angry, but rather becomes sad. For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is described as being angry, but not as being sad, because sadness is a deficiency, whereas anger in its proper place is perfection. If a person becomes angry with someone and is able to harm him, but he refrains from doing so seeking the Face of Allah, and is patient regarding the causes of his anger, then he has this great reward: he will be called out over the heads of the creation on the Day of Resurrection and allowed to choose from any of the houris he desires.
As for the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him):
A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, advise me.” The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Do not get angry.” The man repeated that several times and he replied, “Do not get angry.” أنَّ رجلا قال يا رسول الله : أوصني قال : لا تغضب ، فردد مرارا قال : لا تغضب
Bulugh al-Maram 16:56
, we have already spoken about it previously.
As for his second hadith, it is also evidence that if a person is patient and seeks the reward from Allah, Allah will expiate his sins. If a person is afflicted with a trial in his person, his child, or his wealth, and then he is patient regarding it, then Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) will continue to test him with this until there is no sin upon him. Thus, it contains evidence that misfortunes in one's person, children, and wealth serve as expiation for a person, until he walks upon the earth with no sin upon him. However, this is only if he is patient. As for one who complains, then for the complainer is the anger of Allah. And success is from Allah.
