That the Qur'an is Muthani and the benefit of that repetition

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We have spoken previously and said that the Qur'an is Muthani, as Allah described it, saying:
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration الله الذي أنزل أحسن الحديث كتابا متشابها مثاني
[Az-Zumar 39:23]
. These Muthani are not the Muthani in His saying:
And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.ولقد آتيناك سبعا من المثاني والقرآن العظيم
[Al-Hijr 15:87]
, because what is meant by "seven of the Muthani" is al-Fatihah, as established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So Muthani means a book that is similar and repeated, in which the meanings are repeated. Mostly, when the reward of the righteous is mentioned, the reward of the disbelievers is mentioned; when the description of Paradise is mentioned, the description of the Fire is mentioned; when the attributes beloved to Allah are mentioned, the attributes He hates are mentioned. Why? Because if only the desired attributes or rewards were mentioned, a person would be taken by hope until he felt safe from the stratagem of Allah. And if only the disliked aspects were mentioned, he would be taken by despair and hopelessness. So Allah the Exalted mentions this, then mentions the other aspect from His side, so that the person proceeds to his Lord between fear and hope, because this is the balance: to be fearful and hopeful in your journey to your Lord. Because if hope predominates, you become one of those who feel safe from the stratagem of Allah, for whoever is dominated by hope commits sin and says, "Allah will forgive me," and he is negligent of the obligatory, saying, "I hope Allah will forgive me." And if fear predominates, one falls into despair of the mercy of Allah. And we mentioned that some scholars feared in this regard and said that it is befitting for you, when performing obedience, to let hope predominate, because you have done what you were commanded, so hope in the reward of Allah the Exalted, for this is from the category of having a good opinion of Allah. And if you are in the state of disobedience, let the aspect of fear predominate to restrain your soul from what you intend to do of disobedience. And some scholars took another path and said that in the state of illness, the aspect of hope should be advanced, because you are now in a state of weakness, so let hope and having a good opinion of Allah the Exalted predominate, and do not die except while you have a good opinion of your Lord the Exalted. And if you are in a state of health, let the aspect of fear predominate. And Imam Ahmad said that it is befitting that his fear and hope be equal, so whichever predominates, its owner is destroyed. And the person is the doctor of his own self; undoubtedly, if you see yourself leaning toward negligence, it is obligatory for you to frighten it with Allah the Exalted, not to hope for it, because if you hope for it in this state, what will you do? You will proceed to sins.
