The Sayings on the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q5: What are the Seven Oft-Repeated Verses, and why are they called that?
A5 : It was said: The Seven Oft-Repeated Verses are the seven long surahs: al-Baqarah, Ali 'Imran, al-Nisa, al-Ma'idah, al-An'am, al-A'raf, and Yunus, or al-Anfal and al-Tawbah, according to those who consider them as one surah. It was also said: The Seven Oft-Repeated Verses are Surat al-Fatihah, which consists of seven verses in the most correct of the scholars' opinions, excluding the basmalah. This opinion was chosen by Ibn Jarir and Ibn Kathir ; based on what al-Bukhari narrated from the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Abu Sa'id al-Ma'la
regarding the virtue of al-Fatihah:
is the seven oft-repeated verses (Al- Mathaini) and is the Great Qur'anهي السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم
Sahih al-Bukhari 4704
, and what al-Bukhari also narrated through the route of Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The Um (substance) of the Qur'an is the seven oft-repeated verses (Al- Mathaini) and is the Great Qur'anأم القرآن هي السبع المثاني والقرآن العظيم
Sahih al-Bukhari 4704
, and the seven verses of al-Fatihah were called the Oft-Repeated because they are repeated: that is, they are recited in the rak'ahs of the prayers, whether obligatory or voluntary.
