The Exegesis of the Saying of Allah the Exalted: ((So when We decreed his death, nothing indicated to them his death except an earthworm that ate his staff. So when he fell, the jinn realized that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in the humiliating punishment))

And when We decreed for
[Saba 34:14]
meaning upon Sulayman
death الْمَوْتَ
meaning he died, up to the end.
We decreed
meaning We decreed his death upon him, so he died. The decree here is a predestined decree. The decree of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is of two types:
predestined and legislative. Here,
And when We decreed for
[Saba 34:14]
the decree is predestined.
And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَى بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ
[Al-Isra: 4] This is also a predestined decree, meaning We decreed that upon them.
The second is: a legislative decree. This is when it pertains to what Allah has commanded, for it is a legislative decree, as He the Exalted said:
And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him
[Al-Isra: 23]. So the decree here is legislative, for if it had been a predestined decree, it would have occurred, and all people would have worshipped Allah without associating partners with Him. Here the decree is predestined,
And when We decreed for
[Saba 34:14]
meaning We decreed it upon him, so he died. He said: "And he remained standing on his staff for a year, dead, while the jinn were performing those heavy tasks as usual, unaware of his death, until the earthworm ate his staff and he fell dead." Yes, all that the author mentioned is clear from the verse. When Allah decreed his death, he remained for a period during which the jinn did not know that he had died, and they were working, were they not? They were working hard because he had burdened them with it. So he died and remained leaning on his staff. First: The author (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "He remained for a year." Restricting this duration to a year has no evidence for it, but there is no doubt that he remained for a period while they were working before him, not knowing that he was dead. Whether we restrict it to a year, or less, or more, this requires evidence. Our statement that he was leaning on his staff has evidence from the verse, because it said:
So when he fell
and this is not possible unless he was leaning. He says:
nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth
[Saba 34:14]
The source "aradhat al-khashabah" (the wood was eroded) for building, not the passive; the earthworm ate it. Is the word "earth" intended to mean the species, i.e., the creature that is in the earth, or is it intended to mean the source? The author holds that the intended meaning is the source, derived from the phrase "aradhat al-khashabah," meaning the earthworm ate it, meaning nothing indicated to them his death except the creature that erodes wood, eroding it. Accordingly, the word "arad" is a source, what? "Arad" from "ya'rid" "aradan," like "daraba" from "yadrib" "daraban." This is a report of the author's (may Allah have mercy on him) statement, which is far from the concept of the verse, because when you understand "except an earthworm of the earth," you do not understand at all what the author reported. Rather, what comes to mind is that the intended meaning of "earth" is the species, meaning except the creature that comes out of the earth.
eats his staff تَأْكُلُ مِنسَأَتَهُ
