The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((When We decreed his death, nothing indicated to them his death except a creature of the earth that ate his staff))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Allah the Exalted said:
And when We decreed for Solomon death فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ
[Saba 34:14]
to the end of it. This is the beginning of mentioning the benefits:
Among the benefits of this verse: First, that death is the ultimate end of every living being, no matter how great his kingdom may be. Indeed, Sulayman was among the greatest of kings in terms of kingdom, and yet his kingdom did not save him from death. And among the benefits is that all matters are with Allah, as He said:
And when We decreed for Solomon death فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ
[Saba 34:14]
.
And among the benefits is that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is described with greatness, majesty, and perfection. This is because
Narrated to us نا
is not for plurality but for magnification. Because the word "I" (Ana), I hope, my brothers, the word "I"
Narrated to us نا
indicates either plurality or magnification. Plurality is impossible here, so it is established that it is for magnification.
And among the benefits is that a humble thing may do a great, major thing. This is taken from His saying:
nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth مَا دَلَّهُمْ عَلَى مَوْتِهِ إِلَّا دَابَّةُ الأَرْضِ
[Saba 34:14]
. This is something that the Sunnah of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, necessitates: that a thing may be humble, but a great matter results from it. We now do not know how to bury our dead except by the indication of the crow, is that not so? Also, all the magnificent, beautiful architectural structures were known from the work of bees. Also, all the machines that people invent, you find they compare them to the creations of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, such as airplanes and others. By this, we know that humble things may be of great benefit to man, and serious matters may result from them.
And among the benefits is that attributing a thing to its known cause is permissible. This is based on His saying:
nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth مَا دَلَّهُمْ عَلَى مَوْتِهِ إِلَّا دَابَّةُ الأَرْضِ
[Saba 34:14]
. So He attributed the indication to the creature of the earth, even though did the creature eat the staff in order to indicate to the jinn the death of Sulayman? No, but it is a cause. So attributing a thing to its known cause, whether known by the Shari'ah or by sense, is permissible. Yes, even if the Name of the Majestic is not mentioned in it. For example, if I say, "If not for so-and-so, I would have perished," and it is true that so-and-so is the one who saved you, this is permissible if you do not believe that this cause is the only doer. And what is prohibited is attributing a thing to a cause alongside Allah, connected by the conjunction "and," or attributing a thing to a cause whose causality is not known, neither from the Shari'ah nor from sense, because this falls under the category of illusions and fantasies.
And among the benefits of the verse is: caution, or warning, about the creature of the earth. Is that not so? Yes, indeed. As long as it eats wood and these things, beware of it. How many people have had their valuable libraries, which are worth a lot, ruined by the creature of the earth. So be careful, do not let the earth eat your books. Good.
