Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the points of the rising and setting of the sun.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then He said:
Lord of the heavens and earth رب السماوات والأرض
[Ar-Ra'd 13:16]
This “Lord” is either an apposition of explanation or a predicate for a deleted subject, the meaning being: He is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. “Lord” means Creator, Owner, and Manager. He is the One who created the heavens and the earth, He is the One who owns the heavens and the earth, and He is the One who manages the heavens and the earth. Allah the Exalted said:
Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command ألا له الخلق والأمر
[Al-A'raf 7:54]
This refers to His uniqueness in creation and management. And He the Exalted said:
And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth ولله ملك السماوات والأرض
[Ali 'Imran 3:189]
This refers to His uniqueness in ownership.
