Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (And how many angels are in the heavens)
Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Najm: 26] (Kam) is a word of multiplication;Because it comes as a word of multiplication, meaning: it often means "how much," and it can also be interrogative,If I say to you: "How much money do you have?" is interrogative,And in His saying, the Exalted: [Surat al-A'raf: 4] for its multiplicative sense, here [An-Najm 53:26] it means: Many of the angels in the heavens, their intercession does not benefit,And here He says:[An-Najm 53:26] And how numerous the angels are, as Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Anbiya: 26] .
Not on earth, and the heavens are higher than the earth. If these noble angels whose abode is the heavens—except for those whom He has permitted to descend to earth—if their intercession does not benefit, then is it possible that the intercession of al-Lat, al-'Uzza, and Manat would benefit?!
No.
Meaning: As if Allah is saying to them: What are these idols of yours by which you seek intercession with Allah? (How many angels), who are nobler than these idols, (in the heavens), which are nobler than the earth, (their intercession does not benefit in anything). If they were to intercede, it would only benefit under two conditions: (Except for whom Allah permits) among the angels to intercede, and he intercedes, (and He is pleased), that He is pleased with the one for whom intercession is sought, and also with the intercessor; because it is not possible for Him to permit the intercessor except after He is pleased with him, and He must be pleased with the one for whom intercession is sought,And otherwise, intercession does not benefit, as He Mighty and Majestic said: [Surat al-Anbiya: 28] So these idols of yours will not benefit you, and Allah will not accept their intercession,So the conditions of intercession are now three: The first: Allah's pleasure with the intercessor: by being worthy of intercession because he is among those brought near to Allah Mighty and Majestic.
And the second: That He is pleased with the one for whom intercession is sought: by being worthy of having intercession made for him. As for the disbeliever, the intercession of the intercessors does not benefit them.
The third: Permission: due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Surat al-Baqarah: 255] .
So there must be three conditions: Allah's pleasure with the intercessor, and with the one for whom intercession is sought, and His permission for the intercession.
[An-Najm 53:26] And in this is the despair of these polytheists from the intercession of their gods for them.
Allah the Exalted said:
And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allah has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.
And how many cities have We destroyed
And how many angels there are in the heavens
وَكَمْ مِنْ مَلَكٍ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِhow many angels
Rather, they are [but] honored servants.
In the heavens
فِي السَّمَاوَاتِNo.

And the second: That He is pleased with the one for whom intercession is sought: by being worthy of having intercession made for him. As for the disbeliever, the intercession of the intercessors does not benefit them.
The third: Permission: due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
So there must be three conditions: Allah's pleasure with the intercessor, and with the one for whom intercession is sought, and His permission for the intercession.
